This group was started in 2006 when Naeemah realized the importance of supportive friends after a few tragic experiences in her life. The sistas group consists of friends from the Caribbean and America of all ages who are positive in their personal lives and in the community. We have annual events and community outreach projects and our own personal life coach for the group.
Nikki Plaskett, from St. Croix, USVI, took her first Hatha Yoga class as a child after a dance class. Since then her love affair with creative movement has blossomed and led to certifications as a Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga teacher. A beautiful pregnancy and graceful birth inspired Nikki to specialize in Perinatal training; she holds certifications and trainings as a Khalsa Way Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, Perinatal Fitness Trainer, Prenatal Massage Practitioner, Childbirth Educator & Doula.

In September 2013, Petra Victor Matthew was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy and 7 weeks of radiation therapy. Immediately after her diagnosis in September 2013, she launched a Facebook page geared towards cancer awareness in the USVI. The page gained notoriety for sharing personal stories of individuals in the USVI community who have been affected by cancer. As a spin-off from her Facebook page, in April 2017 Petra established “Ribbons for a Cure, Inc.”.
12-14 Months to live! That was the prognosis in September 2011, given by the oncologist I was sent to upon learning that I had stage IV aggressive breast cancer. It was a very surreal moment as my mind flashed to my kids, my husband, my parents, friends and family. Then I thought of what God had spoken to me the night before as I spent time with Him in preparation for this very meeting. "Don't put much confidence in your doctors, but rather look to me for your healing". And so my journey began!
The mission of the White Dress Project is to galvanize support and promote awareness about the fibroid epidemic among women domestically and globally through education, research and advocacy. The White Dress Project is an organization dedicated to raising funds for research and awareness for uterine fibroids. A white dress is a piece of clothing women with fibroids know never to wear. It symbolizes empowerment in this organization.
